We recently hosted two Year 10 work experience students from All Saints Catholic School, York, who spent two weeks with us exploring the world of architecture.
As part of their work experience they accompanied one of our Architects - Caroline Brayson – to a site visit St Paul’s Church, Ireland Wood, where they were given a brief to design a rear extension to the church hall.
During their time in the office they learned to use AutoCAD and Revit to draw up their designs.
Both also attended a CPD presentation given by Alexa Stephens (Conservation Architect and Partner) at Harewood House.
Overall, it was our pleasure as a Practice to be able to create a taste of what working life might look like and to help them develop important interpersonal skills such as communication and teamworking. We hope the experience may have inspired an ongoing interest in Architecture as a career choice, but whatever choices they make in the future we are pleased to have contributed to their ongoing education.
